Work out tip #4 Speed and Agility

How's that single leg training going? Hope you've been able to drop an exercise or two into your workout that focuses on just that at least once during your week! This week I want to talk about the importance of including quickness and agility into your training. Agility and quickness are SO important for us as we age! Being able to move quickly on your feet - at just the right moment - can be life changing in preventing falls, twists and damaging injuries.

A great tool for this (and super cheap too) is the agility ladder. You can order these on amazon, pick them up at your local sports store and probably (if you are creative) even just build your own. I ordered mine from Amazon (no creativity skill here 😉). With the agility ladder, you can delve into all kinds of steps and movements that will challenge your agility (ability to move in different directions). And, as you learn them, you can start doing them increasingly faster to develop quickness of foot. These movements are fun and challenging - which means they are also a good little brain workout too!
