Change is as good as a holiday

We all love holidays right? The change from routine life, a break from work expectations. It feels so free and liberating. It shouldn't come as too much of a surprise then that our bodies need change sometimes too. If you train for events of any kind, you will know that most training plans have phases, where different aspects of fitness or technique are developed and given more attention. The truth is that if we are doing the same thing, day after day, we will soon be "result-less". Our bodies have adapted and now need something new to adapt to. Sometimes this is as simple as just increasing the weight we are using, or altering the form of an exercise (like changing from push ups to bench pressing). Sometimes a bigger change is needed simply because boredom has settled in and we are no longer excited about what we are doing. I've recently finished reading "Simple and Sinister" - a book for kettlebell training. So, to start 2019, I have decided to shorten a few of my morning runs during the week in order to do a short kettlebell workout. Time for a change - let's see what the kettlebells can do!
