Sleep info segment #2: Approximately 30% of people do not get sufficient sleep. The percentage is very similar for those who struggle with obesity. Are these two statistics connected? Maybe. Here's what we know: People who do not get enough sleep do not regulate insulin well. When insulin is not functioning well (think insulin resistance) the human body becomes more efficient at storing fat throughout the body, including in the liver. This is linked to diabetes (amongst other diseases). So....get your sleep! Don't let distractions keep you from the one thing that may impact your overall health more than any other.
